Charlotte families can unlock a year of free adventure, thanks to the Every Kid Outdoors program for all 4th graders—homeschoolers included.
Each student receives a pass granting no-cost entry to more than 2,000 federal sites, from Great Smoky Mountains National Park to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
This benefit covers all children under 16 and up to three adults, making it easy to plan family hikes, scenic drives, or educational outings.
To participate, students simply complete a brief online activity to receive a paper voucher, which can be exchanged for a plastic pass at participating locations.
The pass is valid for the entire 4th grade year but does not include fees for camping or tours.

The Charlotte Asian Film Festival returns Saturday, September 13, 2025, at The Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City on East 9th Street.
This vibrant, one-day celebration features short films, features, and documentaries exploring Asian identity, culture, and heritage.
Attendees can join Q&A sessions with filmmakers, gaining unique insight into their storytelling journeys.
Films screen from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with morning check-in and opening remarks starting at 9:30 AM.
The festival concludes with a 2:15 PM awards presentation—followed by an energetic after-party at Maya VP Studios, where food trucks and local vendors await.
