Wegmans Ballantyne is set to transform Charlotte’s grocery landscape when it opens at 11550 N. Community House Road on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.

Atrium Health University City is set for a major $168 million expansion, officially approved to meet the rapid growth in North Charlotte and surrounding communities.
This project will deliver a new inpatient bed tower, advanced surgical suites, and crucial infrastructure upgrades, significantly improving healthcare access for residents in Harrisburg, Concord, and University City.
The expansion comes as University City continues its transformation into one of Charlotte’s fastest-growing urban districts, driven by surging population, development, and business investment.
Area homeowners and buyers may benefit from strengthened property values, new job opportunities, and direct access to modern healthcare without commuting.
As construction gets underway, locals can expect phased improvements, with additional announcements about hiring and community impacts.
This marks one of North Charlotte’s largest healthcare infrastructure investments, solidifying University City’s reputation as a vibrant, complete live-work-play hub. Read More... |
Lake season is back in Charlotte, with families flocking to Lake Norman, Lake Wylie, and Mountain Island Lake for recreation.
But before heading into the water, local officials urge everyone to check for swim advisories — as several coves have recently faced closures from sewage overflows, bacteria spikes, and toxic algal blooms.
Conditions can change fast, especially after heavy rain or heat waves.
Harmful algal blooms are a major concern, often appearing as bright green or foul-smelling water.
Pets are especially at risk since algae toxins can make them dangerously ill in hours.
For safety, text “MECKNOSWIM” to 888-777 for instant alerts.
If you see suspicious water, dead fish, or slime, report it to 311 immediately.
The key: When in doubt, stay out — and help keep Charlotte’s lakes safe for all. Read More... |
