Camp North End Sets 6 PM Curfew for Unsupervised Teens, Boosting Family-Friendly Safety

A new policy aims to prevent disruptions, support local businesses, and keep one of Charlotte’s most popular destinations safe for everyone.

If you have spent any time in Charlotte lately, you know that Camp North End is the place to be.

It is a massive 76-acre historic site that has been transformed into a hub for art, food, and innovation. From the colorful murals to the cozy fire pits in the Boileryard, it is a staple for locals and visitors alike.

But as the site continues to grow, management is making some changes to keep the vibes positive and the environment safe for everyone.

Starting Friday, April 24, 2026, Camp North End implemented a new 6 PM curfew for unsupervised teens.

This move is all about being proactive. We have all seen the reports of “unauthorized teen takeovers” in other parts of the region, like Birkdale Village.

To make sure Camp North End remains a family-friendly destination, the leadership team decided it was time to set some clear boundaries.

What You Need to Know About the New Policy

The rules are pretty straightforward.

If you are under the age of 18, you are still more than welcome at Camp North End — you just need to be accompanied by a parent or an adult guardian if you are on the property after 6 PM.

This policy applies to the entire 76-acre campus.

Whether you are grabbing a coffee, checking out the latest art gallery opening, or just walking through the site to admire the history, the 6 PM rule is in full effect.

Management has made it clear that this is not about keeping young people away.

It is about ensuring that everyone who visits the site can do so safely.

By requiring adult supervision in the evenings, the goal is to prevent the kind of large, unsupervised gatherings that have caused disruptions elsewhere in the Queen City.

Security and Enforcement

You might notice a few more friendly faces in uniform during your next evening visit.

To help enforce the new curfew, Camp North End is partnering with off-duty officers from CMPD and working closely with Marksman Security.

The security team will be focused on education and redirection — making sure everyone knows the rules so the evening remains enjoyable for diners, shoppers, and residents.

If you are planning a late-night dinner at one of the incredible spots on-site, like Leah & Louise, you do not need to worry.

The increased security is there to support the businesses and the patrons, making sure the environment stays welcoming.

Why This Matters for the Community

Charlotte is growing fast, and our public spaces have to adapt.

Camp North End is a unique asset to our city, sitting just a short drive from Uptown and connecting several historic neighborhoods.

For many families, this site is their go-to spot for a Saturday afternoon or a Friday night out.

By setting these guidelines, the management team is prioritizing the long-term safety and comfort of their guests.

We have seen similar policies work well in other areas — helping create a space where parents feel comfortable and adults can enjoy a night out without disruptions.

Supporting Local Businesses

The heartbeat of Camp North End is its tenants.

From small boutiques to world-class restaurants, these businesses rely on a steady flow of foot traffic and a safe environment.

By taking this proactive step, Camp North End is showing its commitment to the success of its vendors.

Plenty to Do for All Ages

Remember, this curfew only applies to unsupervised minors.

Camp North End is still incredibly teen-friendly during the day.

Even after 6 PM, teens are welcome as long as they are with an adult.

It is a perfect opportunity for a family dinner or a guided walk through the murals.
