Good morning, Charlotte 👋

This week’s Scoop has a little bit of everything: a major redevelopment moving forward at Brookhill Village, a new vision for Brooklyn Village in Uptown, and a City Council vote coming Monday that could shape how Charlotte handles new data centers.

For the weekend, the forecast is about as good as late October gets — sunny days, crisp nights and highs mostly in the 60s and low 70s.

We’ve also got three fresh Queen City Scoop guides, the newest stories from CLT Fork and Carolina Impact Weekly, weekend events, a dedicated Halloween section and two local food spots worth knowing.

Here’s what’s happening around Charlotte. 👇

Charlotte Stories to Know

Charlotte City Council approved $4.16 million in infrastructure funding tied to a $92.6 million public-private redevelopment of the 71-year-old Brookhill Village site.

The plan calls for a mixed-use community with new infrastructure, community facilities, event space, greenspace and preserved affordable housing. For a site that has sat at the center of Charlotte’s housing conversation for years, this is one of the week’s biggest development stories.

Charlotte City Council is expected to vote Monday on whether to extend the city’s temporary moratorium on new data-center applications.

The current moratorium runs through Nov. 5 while the city studies land-use, infrastructure and neighborhood impacts and considers possible policy changes. Existing and previously approved projects are not stopped by the moratorium.

Charlotte-area pumpkin patches range from quick, low-cost farm stops to full-day fall festivals.

Hodges Family Farm is the easiest option inside Charlotte, while The Hunter Farm is especially good for younger kids and animal lovers.

Carrigan Farms stands out for true pick-your-own pumpkins straight from the vine, and Wise Acres combines pumpkin-field access with pizza and relaxed farm activities.

For bigger outings, Almond Farm, Outlaw Acres and Shelby Corn Maze add corn mazes, rides, playgrounds and other fall attractions.

Because schedules and reservation availability can change with weather and crop conditions, check each farm’s official site before leaving.

Charlotte’s greenways are becoming more useful for everyday trips, not just recreation.

Little Sugar Creek remains the easiest place to start, while the McAlpine, McMullen and Four Mile network gives south Charlotte riders access to Ballantyne, Pineville and nearby shopping areas.

Some gaps still require sidewalks, street crossings or short road connections, so route planning matters.

Mecklenburg County is actively extending Sugar Creek Greenway from Yorkmont toward McDowell Farms, with completion anticipated in 2027.

For planning, start with the county’s official greenway map, then use cycling apps to inspect the connections between trails.

💧 Quick heads-up: Stage 2 water restrictions are still active.

Recent rain has helped reservoir levels, but Charlotte Water says the region’s longer-term streamflow is still below normal. Outdoor watering remains limited, and residential car washing and filling pools remain restricted. See the current rules →

From Our Network

We checked current menus and specials to find Charlotte restaurant deals that still look genuinely worth planning around.

The list includes bánh mì at Pho Van, $10 lunches at Azucar and Calle Sol, Sabor’s rotating weekday specials, Ilios family meals, $1 wings at Town Brewing and Lee’s, and $6 burger night at Bradshaw Social House.

For five restaurants, we also reviewed 100 Google reviews apiece to see whether diners independently talked about value and portions.
