Free Soup Day at Free Range Brewing

Join the community for Free Soup Day at Free Range Brewing, located at 2320 N Davidson Street. Starting at 11 a.m., enjoy complimentary soup, bread, and sweet treats prepared by over 20 local chefs. It's a wonderful opportunity to connect with neighbors and savor delicious offerings.

 

Birdsong Brewing's 10th Annual New Year's Day Party

Head over to Birdsong Brewing Co. at 1016 N Davidson Street for their 10th Annual New Year's Day Party. Beginning at 10 a.m. (while supplies last), guests can enjoy bagels, spreads, and Counter Culture Coffee. Entry requires a donation to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina—either two food items or a $5+ contribution.

 

4th Annual Chili Cook-Off at Vaulted Oak

Spice up your day at Vaulted Oak's 4th Annual Chili Cook-Off, held from 2 to 5 p.m. at 3726 Monroe Road. Taste and judge a variety of chili recipes for free with the purchase of a beverage. For those interested in competing, there's a $35 entry fee, with cash prizes awarded to the winners.

 

First Footin' at Rural Hill

Embrace the Scottish tradition of Hogmanay at Rural Hill's First Footin' event. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., participants will walk the 2.5-mile borders of Rural Hill, pausing to hear stories of history and folklore. The event concludes with the Stone Soup Blessing and a communal luncheon. Admission is $6.76.

 

Barefoot Skiing Tournament at Lake Norman Marina

For a unique spectacle, attend the Barefoot Skiing Tournament at Lake Norman Marina, located at 6965 NC Highway 150 in Sherrills Ford. Starting at noon, watch competitors from around the country showcase advanced starts and tricks in this thrilling water skiing event. Admission is free for spectators.

Kickstart your fitness goals with First Day Hikes offered by North Carolina State Parks. Various parks near Charlotte will host guided hikes at different times throughout the day. It's a great way to enjoy the natural beauty of the region and begin the year on an active note.

 

Charlotte New Year's Day 5K

Runners and walkers can participate in the Charlotte New Year's Day 5K, starting at 10 a.m. The race begins and ends at 9100 Robert D. Snyder Road, taking participants along the scenic greenway. Registration is $45, with a Kids' Dash at 11 a.m. for $14. The event includes post-race food and drinks, making it a festive way to start the year.
