Charlotte's New Baseball Facility Is Raising the Bar

A former professional player and Division I athlete are bringing elite training, cutting-edge technology and a family-first clubhouse experience to Charlotte's next generation of baseball players.

Parents spend thousands of dollars every year on travel baseball, private lessons and tournaments. But one new Charlotte facility believes developing better athletes takes more than extra swings in a batting cage.

The Training Camp HQ, located on Monroe Road, combines elite baseball instruction, professional-grade technology, strength training and academic support under one roof. The result is a space that feels more like a professional player development center than a traditional training facility.

Built by Athletes Who've Been There

The Training Camp HQ was founded by Josh and Brittany Whitlock, two former Division I athletes who wanted to create something different for Charlotte families.

Josh Whitlock played professionally in the Chicago Cubs organization and experienced firsthand how elite athletes are developed over time.

Brittany Whitlock, a former Division I sprinter, brings expertise in speed, agility and performance while helping shape the family-first culture inside the facility.

Together, they envisioned a place focused on building complete athletes instead of simply renting batting cages.

More Than Baseball Lessons

Elite Hitting & Pitching

Professional coaching inside seven full-length batting cages with ceilings high enough to track complete ball flight.
Performance Technology

Players receive measurable feedback using advanced tools that track exit velocity, launch angle, spin rate and other metrics used by college and professional programs.
Strength & Conditioning

Athletes build power, durability and confidence through dedicated performance training.
Speed & Agility

Specialized sessions help players become quicker, faster and more explosive on the field.

Clubhouse and study hall

A Place Parents Will Appreciate

One feature that immediately stands out is the clubhouse atmosphere.

The facility includes dedicated study areas where athletes can complete homework before or after training, creating a healthy balance between academics and athletics.

Comfortable family spaces also allow parents to relax, work remotely or simply watch practices through viewing windows.

It's a thoughtful approach that recognizes youth sports involve the entire family, not just the athlete.

Queen City Scoop Take

Most youth training facilities focus on getting athletes in and out as quickly as possible. The Training Camp HQ takes a different approach by investing in the complete athlete, blending baseball instruction, athletic performance, academics and a true community atmosphere under one roof.
