Science on the Rocks Is Back in Charlotte

Discovery Place isn’t just for field trips anymore.

Once a month, the kids clear out… and Charlotte adults take over.

Welcome to Science on the Rocks — one of the most unique nights out in Uptown.

Think cocktails, experiments, music, and full access to the museum — all in one place.

What Is Science on the Rocks?

This is a 21+ after-hours event at Discovery Place Science.

From 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the entire museum becomes an adults-only playground.

You get:

• Full access to exhibits

• Hands-on experiments

• Live science shows

• Bars throughout the building

It’s basically a science museum meets nightlife experience.

No Kids. Totally Different Vibe.

Let’s be honest — Discovery Place is fun, but it can get crowded.

At Science on the Rocks, you actually get to enjoy everything.

No lines of field trips.

No rushing past exhibits.

Just you, your friends, and time to explore.

The energy feels more like a party than a museum visit.

The Themes Change Every Month

Every event has a different theme.

Past favorites include:

• 80s nights

• Wizarding themes

• Valentine’s “Science of Seduction”

Each one brings new activities, drinks, and experiences.

So no two visits are the same.

Drinks + Experiments = The Real Fun

There are bars set up throughout the museum.

You’ll find:

• Craft beer

• Wine

• Themed cocktails (sometimes glowing 👀)

But the highlight is where drinks meet science.

Think liquid nitrogen cocktails and interactive demos you won’t see anywhere else.

Hands-On Labs & Live Shows

This isn’t a “stand around and talk” event.

You’ll actually do things.

From DNA experiments to live explosive demos, the entire night is interactive.

It’s one of the few nights out where you leave having learned something new.

Perfect for Date Night or Groups

If you’re tired of the same dinner + drinks routine, this is your upgrade.

Every exhibit becomes a conversation starter.

It’s fun, low-pressure, and way more memorable than a typical night out.

Plus, you’re already in Uptown — so it’s easy to keep the night going after.
