New Hotel Development Advances in South End

White Lodging's latest project moves forward at South Tryon and Bland Streets

South End's dynamic growth continues as plans for a new hotel take a significant step forward.

White Lodging, the developer behind Uptown's JW Marriott, has filed a land development construction plan with the city of Charlotte for a proposed hotel at 1320 S. Tryon St.

This prime location, situated between Charlotte Beer Garden and The RailYard, is set to feature a ground-floor restaurant and an underground parking structure.

A representative from White Lodging indicated that this filing is an administrative step, positioning the developer to break ground during the second half of 2026.

The 0.63-acre site at the corner of South Tryon and Bland Streets was acquired by White Lodging in late 2023.

Since then, the area has seen a surge in activity with new restaurants, offices, and residential developments, yet it remains underserved in terms of hotel accommodations.

This development aims to address the longstanding demand from business travelers, weekend visitors, and event attendees seeking lodging options within the neighborhood.

City rezoning documents related to this project were approved earlier this year, and the recent construction plan filing suggests that the developer is preparing for the next phase.

While no final timeline or hotel brand has been announced, these developments signal continued momentum in South End's evolution.

As the neighborhood's skyline and streetscape transform, this new hotel is poised to become a key amenity, enhancing the area's appeal to both visitors and residents alike.
