Girl Dads Care Brings Father-Daughter Basketball Clinic to Spectrum Center

First-time NBA collaboration brings fathers off the sidelines at Spectrum Center

Girl dads, it's time to lace up those sneakers and hit the court with your daughters at a special basketball clinic happening at Spectrum Center this weekend.

Girl Dads Care, a nonprofit organization focused on father-daughter bonding through basketball, is partnering with the Charlotte Hornets for their first-ever NBA team collaboration. The clinic runs from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and puts both dads and daughters on the court together—no sitting on the sidelines for this one.

"We want to get the fathers off the bleachers, put the cell phones down, and get on the court," said Will Mosley, founder of Girl Dads Care, during a recent interview about the event.

What to Expect

Participants will work through drills, sprints, and warm-ups with the Hornets' training staff, followed by a 2-on-2 tournament where father-daughter teams compete against each other. After the clinic wraps up, attendees get to watch the Hornets take on the Knicks from special seats.

But the real value goes beyond basketball skills. According to Girl Dads Care, children with involved fathers are 43% more likely to earn A's in school and 33% less likely to repeat a grade. For girls specifically, having an engaged father significantly impacts their future success.

"In 20 years, they're not going to remember who got the most rebounds or points," Mosley explained. "They're going to remember that my father showed up and supported my interests and dreams."

How to Get Tickets

While registration has closed, Girl Dads Care is giving away 5 free tickets on Instagram. Head to @girldads_care, post a selfie with your daughter, and use the hashtag #GirlDadsCare. The first five responses will score tickets to tomorrow's event.
