Eastland Park Breaks Ground in East Charlotte

New 4.5-Acre Urban Park to Revitalize Former Eastland Mall Site

Construction has commenced on the much-anticipated Eastland Park, a 4.5-acre urban green space in east Charlotte.

Located along Central Avenue near North Sharon Amity Road, the park is part of the broader Eastland Yards redevelopment project.

Mecklenburg County officials, including Board of County Commissioners Chair Mark Jerrell, emphasized the park's role in community restoration and connection.

Eastland Park will feature a central splash pad, a tiered playground with various play structures, and a skate spot, honoring the site's history as a community hub.

Additional amenities include walking trails, a dog park, and public art installations, all designed to meet the diverse needs of the east Charlotte community.

Construction is expected to be completed by spring 2027, transforming the former Eastland Mall site into a vibrant community space.
