Wegmans to Open First Charlotte Store in Ballantyne by 2026 |
Highly Anticipated Supermarket to Enhance Ballantyne's Retail Landscape |
Wegmans Food Markets has officially announced plans to open its first Charlotte location in the Ballantyne area, targeting a debut in the third quarter of 2026.
The upcoming store will be situated on North Community House Road, occupying approximately 110,000 square feet.
Customers can expect a comprehensive shopping experience featuring departments such as produce, seafood, meat, bakery, deli, and cheese, along with a market café offering indoor and outdoor seating.
“We’ve received hundreds of requests from locals asking for a store in their area, and we’ve spent years looking for exactly the right location,” said Dan Aken, vice president of real estate and store planning.
This expansion marks a significant milestone for Wegmans, which has been steadily growing its presence in North Carolina since opening its first store in the state in 2019.
The Ballantyne store will be less than half a mile from the highly anticipated mixed-use development, The Bowl at Ballantyne, set to feature tenants like Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, North Italia, and Flower Child.
“As we’ve continued to enhance the offerings all across Ballantyne, we’ve seen the need for a more experiential grocer in the community,” noted Clifton Coble, senior vice president of development for Northwood Office.
Wegmans' arrival is expected to complement Ballantyne's ongoing transformation into a vibrant, walkable community, attracting both residents and visitors seeking diverse retail and dining options.
In addition to Wegmans, Ballantyne is witnessing a surge in new developments, including the opening of PopUp Bagels at The Bowl and the luxury Pilates studio, The Daily Pilates, enhancing the area's appeal.
With these additions, Ballantyne continues to evolve as a dynamic destination, blending residential, retail, and recreational spaces to meet the growing demands of Charlotte's residents. |
