Josh's Farmers Market to Establish Permanent Home at Lowe's YMCA Campus |
Mooresville's beloved market secures a lasting location, enhancing community access to fresh, local produce. |
Josh's Farmers Market, a cherished fixture in Mooresville for over three decades, is set to establish a permanent residence on the Lowe's YMCA campus.
This development follows the YMCA of Greater Charlotte's decision to sell a portion of its land to the market, aiming to bolster community services and provide consistent access to fresh, local food.
The collaboration underscores the YMCA's dedication to optimizing its real estate assets to better serve the community.
By partnering with Josh's Farmers Market, the YMCA envisions creating an integrated community hub that promotes health, well-being, and social connection.
“We are thrilled to welcome Josh’s Farmers Market as a mission-aligned neighbor at Lowe’s YMCA campus,” said Sue Glass, president and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte.
Josh's Farmers Market has deep roots in Mooresville, having previously operated on the Lowe's YMCA campus from 2021 through 2023.
The new permanent site will feature a 6,700-square-foot indoor market complemented by adjacent outdoor seasonal areas.
Construction is slated to commence this fall, with the market's grand opening anticipated in spring 2026.
The site will offer shared parking and restroom facilities accessible to both YMCA members and program participants.
This initiative is part of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte's broader strategy to create integrated community campuses that support health, youth development, and social connection.
In a related development, the Mooresville Town Board of Commissioners recently approved an amendment to the town’s Unified Development Ordinance, allowing for a limited number of permanent and temporary open-air agricultural markets within town limits.
This amendment paves the way for establishments like Josh's Farmers Market to operate permanently in designated districts, provided that a significant portion of their sales are agricultural or food items.
“I think this is a step in the right direction,” Commissioner Gary West remarked, acknowledging the positive impact of the ordinance on local businesses and the community.
